Why the 2025 Nissan Patrol is a Big Rival to the Land Cruiser?!

The automotive world is buzzing with anticipation as Nissan prepares to launch the next-generation Patrol, known as the Armada in left-hand drive markets. Initially expected by the end of the Japanese fiscal year in March 2025, Nissan Americas chairperson Jeremie Papin recently confirmed that the new flagship SUV will debut this year, specifically around the end of the northern summer in August. However, those in right-hand drive markets like Australia will have to wait longer for the new Patrol.

The upcoming Patrol marks a significant shift from its predecessor. It will replace the current model's petrol V8 engine with a more powerful and efficient 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, shared with the 2025 Infiniti QX80. This engine produces 336kW of power and 698Nm of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and available in both rear- and four-wheel-drive configurations. Compared to the current Patrol’s naturally aspirated 5.6-litre V8, this new V6 offers a substantial 38kW and 138Nm increase, making it a formidable competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series' 3.3-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine.

While the QX80 gives a glimpse of the new Patrol’s exterior design, the two models will feature distinct front and rear styling and different interior designs. Expect the new Patrol to boast a tech upgrade, similar to the QX80’s advanced features.

The Infiniti’s interior includes a 14.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 9.0-inch screen for climate control functions. The current Patrol in Australia received an interior update this year with a redesigned center stack featuring a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger.

As Nissan continues to evolve and innovate, the 2025 Patrol is poised to be a strong contender in the SUV market, rivaling the iconic Toyota Land Cruiser with its advanced technology and improved performance.
