Land Rover has unveiled the 2025 Defender OCTA, the latest flagship variant tuned by the in-house Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division. This high-performance SUV will arrive in Australian showrooms by March next year.
Priced at $291,542 plus on-road costs for the regular version and $317,592 for the limited Edition One, the Defender OCTA is significantly more expensive than the standard Defender 110 P525 V8. The OCTA moniker is inspired by diamonds and the octahedral shape that contributes to their durability and distinctive appearance.
The Defender OCTA replaces the P525’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine sourced from BMW. This powerhouse generates 467kW and 750Nm, achieving 0-100km/h in just 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 249km/h. A 48-volt mild-hybrid system adds a 20kW/175Nm boost during hard acceleration, though peak torque with launch control mode is capped at 800Nm.
Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, the OCTA features upgraded drivetrain components, including a stiffer transmission cradle, thicker driveshafts, and stronger rear differential parts. Unique to the OCTA is the 6D Dynamics height-adjustable air suspension, which uses hydraulically-interlinked dampers to virtually eliminate body roll and pitch.
For those who love keeping their vehicles in pristine
condition, we recommend the Chemical Guys HOL169 16-Piece Arsenal Builder CarWash Kit. This kit features a foam cannon, bucket, and six 16 oz car care
cleaning chemicals. Ideal for car and truck enthusiasts, dads, and DIYers, it
works seamlessly with pressure washers for an exceptional clean.
Inside, the Defender OCTA boasts 'Body and Soul Seats' with integrated transducer units, a 15-speaker Meridian audio system, and new front seats with heating, ventilation, and full semi-aniline leather. Exclusive to the Edition One are 'chopped' carbon-fibre highlights and a 'Satin Moonlight' exterior design pack.
