New Skoda Elroq: A Strong Contender in Electric SUV Market

The Skoda Elroq battery electric SUV, the first of six new electric Skoda models set to launch by the end of 2026, has been teased in a lightly camouflaged reveal ahead of its official unveiling in the third quarter of 2024. Expected to go on sale in Europe shortly after its reveal, the Elroq is anticipated to arrive in Australia about a year later, according to Skoda Australia’s boss.

As the second electric Skoda to be offered in Australia, following the Enyaq in July 2024, the Elroq will lead a lineup of six new electric models by 2026, including the compact Epiq and a seven-seat family SUV comparable to the Toyota Kluger. Continuing Skoda's tradition of naming models with the letter 'E,' the Elroq is positioned as an electric alternative to the Skoda Karoq, a cost-effective small-to-medium SUV with spacious interiors.

The Elroq shares the MEB electric platform with the Enyaq and other Volkswagen Group electric vehicles such as the Cupra Born and Volkswagen ID.3. While pricing details remain under wraps, the Elroq's European launch will showcase three rear-wheel-drive variants and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive flagship. The entry-level Elroq '50' will feature a 125kW motor and a 55kWh battery pack, the '60' will offer 150kW with a 63kWh battery, and the '85' will provide 210kW powered by an 82kWh battery. The range-topping '85x' will include an additional motor, delivering 220kW with the same 82kWh battery.

Skoda promises a driving range exceeding 560km for the '85' and '85x' models, with fast-charging capabilities allowing 10-80% battery top-ups in just 28 minutes. The Elroq's aerodynamic design, featuring a drag coefficient of 0.26, is complemented by alloy wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches in diameter.

For those who love keeping their vehicles in pristine condition, we recommend the Chemical Guys HOL169 16-Piece Arsenal Builder CarWash Kit. This kit features a foam cannon, bucket, and six 16 oz car care cleaning chemicals. Ideal for car and truck enthusiasts, dads, and DIYers, it works seamlessly with pressure washers for an exceptional clean.

The Elroq introduces Skoda's 'Modern Solid design language,' featuring a sleek gloss black front-end known as 'Tech-Deck Face' and bonnet lettering instead of the traditional Skoda logo. It will also offer advanced tech features like a 13.0-inch center touchscreen, a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and an optional head-up display with Augmented Reality graphics.

With a 470L boot expandable to 1580L, the Elroq aims to provide ample space and versatility, positioning itself as a strong contender in the burgeoning electric SUV market.
